Mongolian Beef Stir Fry Recipe

I can honestly say, this is THE best beef stir fry you will ever have, bar none!! It will too become a family favourite, it is definitely ours! When stir-frying it is very important to have all your ingredients prepared and measure out beforehand. I

Ingredients

  • 2/3 lb of NY strip steak, or another well
  • marbled piece of meat.
  • 3 Tbs. sunflower or grapesed oil
  • Marinade
  • 1 tsp. mirin (Japanese rice wine or dry
  • sherry)
  • 1 Tbs. sunflower or grapesed oil
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • 3 small garlic cloves, smashed or sliced
  • thinly
  • Sauce
  • 1 Tbs. hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tbs. chili bean sauce*
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • ½ cup water
  • 8 green onions, cut in 1½ inch lengths
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

    Slice the beef VERY thinly across the grain at an angle.

    Combine the marinade ingredients in a medium size bowl. Add the beef slices. Let stand at room temperature for 1 hour.

    Heat the wok or heavy based fry pan to HIGH add the vegetable oil.

    Stir-fry the marinated beef until lightly brown (1-2 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon, set aside.

    Add hoisin, chili bean sauce, cornstarch and water to the oil in the hot wok. Bring to a boil over a MED heat. Add green onions, cook for a minute. Add the beef cook for 1-2 more minutes. Remove the meet and onions from the wok and transfer to a plate.

    Serve with rice Serves 4 *chili bean sauce (sometimes called hot bean sauce) is usually found next to the hoisin sauce in the Asian section of the grocery store Freezes well
